Special Services Division

The Falmouth Police Department’s Special Services Division is responsible for all of the follow-up investigations within the department.  The division also has a large caseload of self-initiated cases.  Officers from the patrol force take the initial complaint from a citizen and the detective commander reviews the case, and after evaluating the solvability factor, will assign a detective for the case follow-up.  There are several areas that the division are responsible for within the department such as follow-up on all major crimes, domestic violence, sexual crimes, narcotics, white-collar crimes, and computer related crimes.  The detectives use traditional investigative methods to investigate crimes they are assigned such as collection of physical evidence, interview and interrogation techniques, computer technology and the back to basics leg work to solve their cases.

The division works closely with several other agencies to investigate their cases and to network information such as the State police agencies, surrounding local agencies, ICE, IRS, N.A.T.F., F.B.I., A.T.F. and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s office.
